My Massage

Investing in massage is an investment into ensuring a healthy mind, body and soul!

A massage tailored to you; with muscle specific techniques and stretches intended to help you release built up muscle and fascial tension accumulated for varying reasons, ranging from stress, previous injuries or surgeries, de-conditioning, poor posture, repetitive mechanical stress, mechanical imbalance (e.g. leg length inequality), joint disorders, to non-restorative sleep.
Combining elements of Swedish Massage: a gentle, rhythmic massage that uses long flowing strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the superficial layers of the muscles promoting relaxation, increasing circulation and improving body function, while warming up the muscle tissue and connective tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up hypertonic areas (muscle ''knots'') or adhered tissues (adhesions). This is the traditional method of full body massage and often serves as a baseline for clients as pressure can be light, deep or variable. Deep Tissue Massage, including principals of Myofascial Release: a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion, and Trigger Point Therapy which targets specific Myofascial trigger points along the body, that are a common cause of local and referred pain, stiffness and tension, physical limitation and even loss of normal function. Trigger points are painful when pressed on, cause a shortening of the muscle fibers and can be a common source of headaches. Sports Massage to enhance performance and prolong your sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase circulation and flexibility and improve recovery rates.
Passive stretching and table Thai techniques, intended to increase flexibility, create space and movement, and improve your own body awareness.

Lomilomi: The Hawaiian word for "massage", and part of a larger native Hawaiian tradition of natural body care. According to Hawaiian tradition, all living beings are seeking a state of balance and harmony in the world.

Hot Stone Therapy: A style of massage where heated stones are glided and placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Cancelation policy - Understanding that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life, and being mindful of efficiency and fairness to all clients, as well as out of consideration for my own time, I have adopted the following policies.
• 24 hour advance notice is required when performing a cancelation. This allows for someone else to schedule an appointment in that time frame.
• If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice, you may be charged the full amount agreed upon for the appointment. This amount must be paid before your next session. No-shows: Anyone who either forgets or chooses to forgo their appointment will be considered a “no-show”, and will be charged for the “missed” appointment and future service will be denied until payment is made.  Arriving late: Appointment times have been arranged for you. If you arrive late the session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointment follow yours. Depending on how late you arrive, I will determine if there is enough time remaining to perform a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment given, you will be responsible for the “full” session.

Benefits of Massage

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety.
  • Enhanced sleep quality.
  • Greater energy.
  • Improved concentration.
  • Increased circulation.
  • Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce post-surgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
  • Relieve migraine pain.Â
